Airplane Travel

This morning we flew from the Detroit Airport to Virginia. While we were waiting, Lenny was taking pictures with his new camera. The pilot of our plane was very interested in the camera, because he wants to take photos out of the cockpit window. So he took our picture in front of the Northwest sign.

The pilot would have liked to take our camera with him in the cockpit, and take some pictures when we were landing near Washington, DC. (Passengers are not allowed in the cockpit, so he couldn't invite us in, only our camera.) Pictures of the Washington Monument from the plane would be very nice. Unfortunately, when he checked the weather, the pilot found out that there were low clouds that didn't allow the plane to have a good view of Washington. So we have only the photo of us in the Detroit Airport.

Now we will spend the weekend visiting Alice, Miriam, Evelyn, and Tom. Lenny will keep trying out new things with his camera.

OUR RETURN: We enjoyed a beautiful take-off from National Airport, as the gentle pink sunset was lighting up the Washington, Lincoln, and Jefferson monuments and the Capitol dome as we banked over the Potomac R. We could also pick out the White House, the National Cathedral, and a moment after that, we could see the weird mormon church that is visible from the beltway in Maryland. Very spectacular. Better than GoogleEarth.
