Building the Sand Castles

Today at Torrey Pines Beach quite a few sand castles were being built near the water. Several had very elaborate moats, with long connections to the water. After a while, the tide came in and knocked them down:

Dolls in Old San Diego

In one of the bedrooms in the museum-houses of Old Town in San Diego were quite a few dolls that might have belonged to a little girl here a little over 100 years ago. I also enjoyed seeing a spinning wheel in a work room near one of the kitchens. When you visit, you get an idea of how people lived here back then.

Today's Sand Castle

The group of people who had been working on it said it was "sort of a sand castle."

Sand Castles

At the beach, sometimes people build really elaborate sand castles. I saw two very nice ones.

Once a long time ago, I was looking at a very very complicated sand castle in the morning. The sand had been wet, but the bright sun was drying it out, and little tiny streams of sand were flowing down from the castle's towers. Soon the castle was going to fall down because it was too dry. It would turn into a pile of smoothed sand instead of nice distinct towers like these.
